What causes hair around nipples?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Areola hair: Hair around the areola(pigmented area around the nipple) is not uncommon. It is simply that these hair follicles are responding to certain hormones( usually androgens). This hair growth, when minimal, does not indicate an underlying abnormal condition.
