A member asked:

What's bronchitis, and is it common for young children?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Airway infection: Bronchitis is usually caused by a viral infection in the larger airways leading to the lungs - the bronchi. This results in inflammation with cough and sputum production. Kids may get more frequent viral illnesses, but are not necessarily more prone to bronchitis than adults.
