Usually no differenc: Tibetan women were found to have higher nitrite and lower nitrate levels than those of tibetan men, whereas no gender differences were found in sea-level dwellers.

Not sure: Positive nitrites in the urine is indicative of a urinary tract infection. I am not sure what blood test has to do with it, though.
