Heimlich maneuver: Should not perform the heimlich maneuver on a person unless they literally cannot breathe. The heimlich maneuver can resulted in fractured ribs and can definitely cause some abdominal pain but it sure beats not breathing.If the person is able to breathe then you should wait to get them to the emergency room right away.You don't want a partially occluded airway to become completely occluded.
