Need More Data: Astaxanthin is a reddish pigment that occurs naturally in certain algae and causes the pink or red color in salmon, trout, lobster, shrimp, and other seafood. While astaxanthin is an antioxidant advocated by some for treating alzheimer's disease, parkinson's disease, stroke, high cholesterol, and age-related macular degeneration (amd) insufficient data exists to support using this supplement.
