1 or 3 hour GTT: High risk patients are screened with a 1 hour 50 gm tolerance at first visit and everyone again after 24 weeks. If this is high (over 140) a 3 hour glucose tolerance test (100 gm) is performed (fasting, 1, 2, & 3 hour blood draw). Depending on these results, your OB may start fingersticks 5 times per day and modify diet, exercise, and add Insulin if needed.
