Guards aid athletes: Mouthguards can protect teeth, jaw joints and reduce the chance of concussions. Newer guards also improve endurance, strength, stability, flexibility and power. Examples are custom ppm and self fit power balance performance mouthguards. Old style guards ignore the bite. Newer ones consider jaw position, so they are also, more comfortable.

Best Mouth Guard: The best guard depends on many factors. What sport do you play? Your age? Level of competition? What condition your teeth are in? We always feel the best is a custom made guard, fitted to only fit in your mouth. If done correctly, you should be able to talk, breath and function.

Cost is issue: Custom made by your dentist is likely best. You can buy boil and bite ones relatively cheaply that are great. If you have braces, get it from your orthodontist as they need to accommodate tooth movement.
