Almost anyone: Almost anyone who can understand and follow instructions. Generally the american heart association, aha, recommends that children are at least 8 years old before they take the training for basic life saving, bls, or cpr. This training includes when to and how to use an automated external defibrillator or aed. Additionally, the machine gives instructions while in use.

Old enough --: The use of AED is always in emergency as a matter of life and death correct? So remember first to call 911, then anybody who is old enough to act responsibly and with basic knowledge on the use of AED (it is self -instructed for the most part after it's turned on) can use AED and probably be a life saver! if you are the only witness to cardiac arrest.
