Coumadin (warfarin) and BCP: Alfalfa contains large amounts of vitamin k which is used to help make clots. Coumadin (warfarin) is used to slow blood clotting. Alfalfa may decrease the effectiveness of coumadin (warfarin). Some birth control pills contain estrogen and taking alfalfa with them might decrease the effectiveness of the birth control pills- use a condom.
