My husband ribs hurt which he thought they where bruised. not when he presses on ot moves. what can it be?

Better hx needed: A precise history of a problem taken by a trained professional is the most important part of making a diagnosis, or at least knowing what specific test should be ordered. For example, did he actually have trauma that would cause bruising & pain? Do all ribs hurt, or is it localized? Do u mean it does or doesn't hurt when he presses or moves them. It could be many things, but too hard to guess.
