Not directly.: Pacemakers might be implanted as part of a care plan for af - but this only prevents slow pulses that might come as a result of medications for the af or after av-node ablation. Pacemakers themselves can not prevent or control af.

Nope: Efforts to use pacemakers to suppress atrial fibrillation have generally been unsuccessful. That said, we do a procedure where we electrically disconnect the top and bottom chambers so the fibrillation doesn't bother you anymore. That requires a pacemaker to be implanted and works quite well for appropriately selected patients.
