A member asked:

What is the risk of bladder infection detected on prenatal screen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

UTI and pregnancy: There is no direct risk between a pregnant women's bladder infection and her fetus: later in pregnancy, however, the UTI can stimulate uterine contractions, and there is a risk of the infection progressing/worsening eg into pyelonephritis ("kidney" infection) which can be further complicated by ureteral obstruction from the enlarging uterus and/or stone disease.
