Damage: Uncontrolled blood glucose in diabetes have a profound effect on vasulature over time. Chronic inflammation is commonly associated with this and thus damage to cell walls become apparent.

Diabetics, in proportion to the lack of control of their blood sugar, develop extremely rapid progression of arterial disease throughout the body.
