Stool transfer: Quite simply, stool from a healthy individual is transferred by enema into the colon of a sick patient. In so doing, the bacterial population from the healthy subject is transplanted into the gut of a patient whose bacterial flora is impaired (as in refractory c.Difficile infection). This experimental technique has recently been picked up by the lay literature & popularized. Don't try it at home!
