Hematuria,pain,mass.: This cancer presents with a classic triad of hematuria, flank pain, and a flank mass, but in only about 10-20% of patients. The most common individual symptoms are hematuria (40%), flank pain (40%), palpable mass (33%), and weight loss (33%). Symptoms like erythrocytosis (3%), hypercalcemia (5%), and non-metastatic hepatic dysfunction (15%) can also occur.

Kidney cancer can cause blood in the urine and flank or side pain but these cases are often more advanced. Sometimes patients will even present with the symptoms of cancer having spread to bones or other distant sites.
