Can you take xanax (alprazolam) and wygesic together?

Not a good idea: Both of these medications puts the person at risk for falling, toxicity, CNS adverse events, and other complications. Xanax (alprazolam) is a drug that should be used sparingly and for only brief periods, since acute withdrawal symptoms and / or seizures can occur with doses as low as 3 mg daily. Wygesic has been shown to cause 60% increase of hip fractures in the elderly. Adding these together is a bad idea.

Not Recommended: Wygesic, like other narcotic pain-killers, increases the effect of drugs that slow brain function, such as alcohol, skeletal muscle relaxants, like Carisoprodol (soma) and cyclobenzaprine (flexeril), and benzodiazepines such as xanax, (alprazolam) valium, or ativan. They potentiate each other. "the sum of the parts is greater than the whole". Serious side effects such as respiratory suppression can occur.
