Not the same.: The two tests are not the same, but they are carried out very similarly. The impedance portion of the study allows your doctor to determine how much non-acid reflux is occurring. It is an outpatient study involving a very thin tube to pass into your esophagus overnight. It is very useful in determining the best way to treat acid reflux. Good luck.
