A member asked:

Does having chronic hepatitis b means death sentence for me?please let me know cause im panicking

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Don't panic!: No, it does not mean a death sentence! I will be honest up front - chronic hepatitis B does increase your risk of developing liver cirrhosis (scarring), liver failure and liver cancer. However, that does not mean you will, and they generally take many, many years to develop. It is important to follow-up with your physician for regular testing and educate yourself - see http://www.hepb.org!
