Plan b : Use over the counter Plan B if sex was within 72 hours to decrease the risk of unplanned pregnancy. Do not base your decision on whether or not to use Plan B on your perception of cervical mucus changes. It decreases the risk of unplanned pregnancy regardless of where you are in the menstrual cycle

You bet: Plan b is based on the presumption that a woman, who had unprotected intercourse, has unknowingly been ovulating around that time, and therefore could potentially conceive, but does not want to. Taking plan b within 48 hours after that unprotected intercourse is supposed to prevent conception. Noting fertile cervical mucous would just indicate that the woman was very likely ovulating.

Prior to ovulation..: Plan B works mainly by delaying ovulation. Some claim it prevents implantation after conception but not all studies have shown this to be true. Its controversial. The unknown here is whether-or-not you ovulated prior to taking it. Cervical mucus is not reliable enough to know. Best wishes!

Plan B: If you take it within 72 hours after you've had unprotected sex, Plan B One-Step can reduce the risk of pregnancy by up to 89%. If you take Plan B One-Step within 24 hours, it is about 95% effective. But you should know that Plan B One-Step is not as effective as regular contraception.

If taken soon: It is more important that you take it soon enough than what part of the menstrual period you are in when you take it. It is especially indicated if you are I'm the most fertile part of your cycle. It is 95% effective if taken within 24 hours but only 85-87% effective if taken later ( within 72 hours). After that the effectiveness falls rapidly. Hope this helps.
