Possibly : Depends on the anesthesia provider. Most anesthesiologists prefer not to go through a tatoo to place an epidural but most can usually find away around it. It is possible depending on the tatoo location that they would not be able to place an epidural safely.

No : An epidural can be placed where a tattoo is. However, if there is an infection in the skin over the epidural site that can be an issue. Be sure to keep your tattoo sites clean and address any concerns about redness early with your doctor.

Possibly: If your tattoo is in the area where the epidural is to be placed and it is new with open skin them there will be no epidural. It the area is infected then there will be no tattoo.
