A tissue reaction: Congratulations on making a very smart and important choice of most effective method to prevent pregnancy. The tissues of your cervix and uterus respond to the IUD by a mild inflammatory reaction which usually resolves spontaneously in a matter of days rarely weeks.A subclinical undiagnosed infection is a possibility to discuss with your MD. Remember to protect yourself against STI's. Safe Sex !

Blood: This is most likely from cervix and or uterine lining. This should resolve in a few days. If not or if fever or worsening pain get rechecked.
