A member asked:

Does ca-125 test for ovarian cancer always tell you if you are cancer-free ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not.: Ca-125 is useful for diagnosis and follow up of the disease, but it by itself is not effective to screen for early-stage ovarian cancer due to its low sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, it should not be the only test to tell if cancer free. Other tsts, like transvaginal ultrasound, may be needed.
