Possibly related: Vomiting involves very forceful contraction of the muscles, not just of the esophagus, but also those of the chest wall and rib. Chest soreness after a bout of vomiting isn't uncommon. Two muscles are connected to both the neck and upper chest: the scalene and sternocleidomastoid. You might have strained one of these. However, neck strains are common & this symptom may be coincidental.
