A member asked:

Can tetrogens cross to an embryo at implantation? or does this only happen once the placenta is formed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, they can: Placenta and embryo evolve from the same structure, which is the clump of cells that originate from the division of the fused sperm/egg. Without blood supply from the mother, these events could not happen. So, with the blood to the evolving fetus/placenta, come the teratogens to the embryo.
