A member asked:

Is there any data suggesting that nicotrol (nicotine patch) inhaler will help you quit smoking?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, but . . . : There is moderate success in the short-run, but not much success in the long-run, even when combined with smoking cessation counseling (see a recent 2012 harvard school of public health study). However, given the serious health effects of cigarette smoking, inhalers may be worth a shot. Note that after quitting for one year, your risk of cardiovascular disease decreases by 50%!
