Spinal surgery: If your surgery is in the low back then the answer is yes. The big issue is to find a surgeon who will do the surgery. You will have to be on your side as it will be easier to breathe. Most newer surgeons are not trained in this fashion and may not like to operate this way. I have provided anesthesia (epidural) many times for lumbar surgery.
