A member asked:

Can micardis (telmisartan) be a substitute for benecar with the same dosage strength?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Substitution: The maximum dose of Benicar (olmesartan) is 40 mg/day and the maximum dose of Micaridis (M) is 80 mt/day. Both are angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) used to treat hypertension. In my practice, I always prescribe the maximum dose of an ARB, as that lowers the BP of the patient the most. If you switch to on M, I would suggest you speak to your physician about starting you on 80 mg/day of M. Good luck.
