More Convenient: There are 2 types of Metoprolol. Metoprolol Succinate (AKA ER Extended Release) or Metoprolol Tartrate. Metoprolol tartrate half life is shorter. That is why you need bid or 2 times a day. Metoprolol Succinate is just making your life easier. So if you were taking Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID these means Metoprolol 100mg of Succinate Once daily
