Unsure: HPP is a rare condition and should be treated by a specialist. In both the genetic and hyperthyroid-related forms, a low carb diet should be first line treatment. Results with pharmacologic agents such as Diamox (acetazolamide) are inconsistent. Mechanism of action is unclear, and Diamox (acetazolamide) has potential side effects. Please be sure to get close follow up.
