A member asked:

I was on mircette (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) but i got a large blood clot in my lung. does this mean i can never use birth control again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NOT RECOMMENDED: All hormonal forms of birth control carry risks, especially concerning one is blood clot which unfortunate you got it. Thus, you have a high tendency of getting blood clot and so not recommended. If you smoke, this could be contributing. Iud such as paragard will likely serve you well, or Mirena (levonorgestrel) which has not been shown to have significant blood clotting risk. Consult your doc. Good luck.
