Common, not "normal": Cramping and spotting are not "normal"; but they are, unfortunately, common. Have you had these symptoms before? I doubt they represent pregnancy, if that's your concern; but consider doing a pregnancy test a week after a missed period should you miss your period. Otherwise, see your clinician for more specific advice. Hope that helps.

Yes normal.: Your sex passage is narrow to start with, guarded by....hymen.....which may be thick. During forceful entry through it .....rupture of hymen leading to immediate bleeding and late spotting. The passage wall can have friction related injury, inflammation and spotting. spotting and cramping can be more indicative of infection....in vagina, bladder. Spermicide/lubricant/latex/sperm allergy matters.

Be seen: It is probably normal, however, it is possible you are having bleeding from the hymen remnants, or even an infection, or pregnancy. Be seen by your physician for an examination.

Possible STD, see MD: Welcome and Happy New Year. No, it isn't normal to have cramps and spotting just because of having vaginal sex the first time. Most sexually active teens are at pretty high risk for STD, and your symptoms could mean gonorrhea or chlamydia. Of course this depends a lot on whether you used a condom and if your partner has had other sex partners. For sure see a doctor or clinic ASAP. Good luck!
