Yes: Although "mild" in terms of its "addictive" nature it can produce some mild symptoms when its stopped abruotly, Perhaps your mom should consider SLOWLY WEANING from the medication instead of "cold turkey"!! Hope this helps! Dr Z

What's"Flippingout"?: If one is taking up to 4-6 tablets of Soma for long time, when suddenly stopped taking it,yes, can develop withdrawal symptoms. Slow tapering off the medicine is desirable. If she is in pain, it is easy to become irritable. So try alternate Rx with less addictive pai medicine like Advil/Aleve, and Tylenol (acetaminophen) with topical Bengay like ointment. Meditation ad Relaxation technique will be very helpful.

Possibly: depends on dose and duration. Soma (carisoprodol) is metabolized to a relative of meprobamate-sedative/hypnotic/antlanxiety med. Suddenly stoppng could lead to withdrawal symptoms. Other causes exist as well

On target: Soma (carisoprodol) is potentially habituating, and in some addicting, as it metabolizes to an archaic drug of abuse, Miltown. It is very conceivable that you MOM needs help during this transition. Would not hurt to phone her doctor and inform of the emotional outbursts.
