A gangion cyst: Probably is a Ganglion cyst a benign sac filled with a jellylike fluid.Originates from a tendon sheath or joint capsule.They are the most common lumps of the hand and some times they may rupture`espontaneosly and give you the bruised like condition.Treatment depend upon how symptomatic they are.

MCP strain?: The area that you describe could be tendinits of the extensor tendon, a strain of the MCP joint, or simply a bruise. Assuming you can bend and extend your fingers normally and there is no focal area of pain to pressure….I would suggest ice for 20 minutes and rest. If things do not resolve or the finger is not functioning or crooked then it should be checked
