Good question...: From an evolutionary standpoint, we were designed to eat standing...or at least squatting...to allow us to remain on the lookout for threats (tigers, dinosaurs, etc.). Gravity is needed to help food get through the gut more efficiently. I would guess that digestion would be aided by remaining upright or by standing. I do not see a mechanism whereby you would gain weight or be worse off.
