A member asked:

Been prescribed .5mg of estrogen to help uncontrollable brown vaginal bleeding from bc , how long after taking this should i see it possibly suffice?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: Estrogen can definitely help irregular bleeding, especially if you are on low dose BCPs. 0.5 mg is a small amount, so it may take some time (days to weeks) to see a difference. If after 2 pill packs you are still having this problem, then ask your GYN if there may be something else wrong? Or you can increase to 1.0 mg of estradiol per day, or consider switching birth control pill brands.
