Hives: If the hives have been present for more than 6 weeks, it is called chronic urticaria and 30% of such cases are considered of autoimmune nature, the rest often of unknown cause. Allergy skin testing (other than to one's own serum) or blood test for allergies is usually not indicated . Try antihistamine up to 4x/day. If still having problem, see allergist.
