Do i need to use a back up method of bc (like condoms) for the first month that i switch to a new bcp? even if i am switching to a stronger pill?

No, but...: If a woman did not miss any pills in her last pack, and is just switching to a different brand of birth control pills (another type of pill), she doesn't have to use a back-up method. However, if she is the "unluckiest person in town", and worries a lot about getting pregnant, she can use condoms or another backup method during the first 7 days of the new pack of pills.

No: If you finish one pill pack and start right into the new one, you don't need to use a back-up method. You will continue to be protected. The chance of getting pregnant on birth control pills is 3-5% per year. Best wshes!
