Not in & of itself..: A normal alt is around 50. Even though 175 is over triple this, it is not a very significant elevation. A dx, resulting from a good history and physical exam--with particular attention to liver and spleen size and lymph nodes--other blood test, including other liver function tests, tests for hepatitis, hiv, and tests indicated by h & p--is crucial. It may simply be 'fatty infiltration of liver'.
