Common: With ovulation there is always a cyst on one of the ovaries. At the time of ovulation that cyst is about 2 cm in diameter, but after ovulation that cyst could enlarge to the size of a softball - that could easily explain your symptoms. It would require an ultrasound to be sure if that is what is happening. For most women who form the larger cysts, patience is all the treatment necessary.

Possible cyst: Sometimes a cyst can develop in ovary that persists and can make pelvic area sore. Can use Advil (ibuprofen) or Alleve and just wait through your next cycle. Usually the cyst will go away or shrink over a few cycles.
