See a spine surgeon: as your symptoms suggest a disc lesion, irritating the nerve which is going to your buttock and down the leg. U need a MRI to confirm the Dx, and then if nonsurgical management doesn't help then surgery would be a definite option to free up the nerve. Good Luck and Happy holidays.

Piriformis Syndrome?: A couple of potential causes including lumbar & sacroiliac dysf, sciatic nerve irritation or other nerve inflammation.The piriformis muscle often tightens, sometimes bilaterally, depending on activity & can 'pinch' the sciatic nerve.A good history & physical exam, incl osteopathic hands-on exam may verify the cause.If piriformis, most drs give stretches but counterstrain manipulation works better.
