A member asked:

I'm 20 days late for my period and know i am not pregnant. i am 40. cycles typically are 28-31 days. thoughts?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Annovulatory cycle: It is very common for women in their forties to skip a period or even more from the ovaries not functioning normally. However, other things like thyroid issues, new onset diabetes and pregnancy can cause the same issues (giving a general answer). If you miss cycles regularly you will be at risk of eventually having very heavy bleeding.
