False positives: Many people have positive ANA or RF and still don't have lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. These are nonspecific tests, and need to be combined with clinical findings that suggest the disease. Psychological distress can definitely cause musculoskeletal discomfort. Your symptoms sound mild and not dangerous. Work with your doctor to control symptoms rather than more testing. Physical therapy may help.
