Less likely: If all you have is a cold sore and drowsiness it is less likely you have herpes encephalitis. Should there be more concern for encephalitis then you will need to go to the emergency room to rule that out. Good luck

Not likely encephali: Herpes encephalitis is a severe illness. By now you should have signs of encephalitis, altered mental status, headache, even seizures. If you do not have these signs, you are probably experiencing cold symptoms which triggered the cold sore.
