Will my gp refer me to a specialist for pectus excavatum?

Dr. Anthony Perez-tamayo answered

Specializes in Thoracic Surgery

Depends on symptoms: At your age, the pectus has to be pretty dramatic to so compress the heart that it can be shown to interfere with cardiac function. Up to that point, it is usually done for cosmesis in adolescents who fear social stigma- but this can be unrewarding- it won't change their shyness.
