A member asked:

What's the difference between otc hydrocortisone and prescription hydrocortisone?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Strength: Otc Hydrocortisone cream is 0.5%. Prescription creams can be 0.5%, 1% and even 2%, and can also come in other forms (ointment, lotion, gel, liquid, spray, etc.). Depending on where you're using it and what condition you're treating, stronger isn't always better, though, so check with your doctor about which is best to use in your particular situation.
