A member asked:

Why would a doctor order an a1c for someone with anemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A1c and anemia: An A1c level in a patient with diabetes and who also has anemia will quite often be reported as a low A1c. There are other ways to keep track of blood glucose control while your anemia is being corrected to the extent possible. As the anemia improves the A1c is likely to increase.
