Why must nitroglycerin be discontinued before someone can undergo stress testing?

Stress testing: With exercise there is peripheral vasodilation physiologically. Nitroglycerin also lowers peripheral vascular resistance. It is possible for hypotension to result. When high exercise levels are not going to be reached but symptoms could occur at low exercise levels, nitroglycerin can be useful to decrease symptoms at low exercise levels.
