A member asked:

Why might someone's heart hurt?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Heart hurt: The heart actually doesn't have pain fibers so technically there is no heart pain. When the heart malfunctions, the pressure goes up in the lungs and this is perceived as discomfort. When the covering over the heart is inflamed, this can cause friction pain with the covering over the lungs.
