Could be serious...: It takes HCG levels a few weeks to go down to near zero after an abortion or miscarriage. If they stop dropping, it can mean that there is a problem. As an example, Gestational Trophoblastic Tumors in the uterus can occur after an abortion and can continue to produce HCG. This is something that needs close follow-up by your Ob/Gyn because it could be serious. Best wishes!
