A member asked:

Why don't the gonads develop into ovaries in swyer syndrome?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Missing Hormones: Male or female gonads form under very unique (and different) hormonal conditions. Individuals with Swyer syndrome are genetically XY though to outward appearance look like females. During embryonic development the unique hormones necessary to form an normal ovary are lacking. Best wishes!
